The NYC Low-Income Artist + Freelancer Relief Fund was a grassroots relief effort started in March 2020 to provide emergency funding to low-income BIPOC, Trans, GNC/NB, immigrant, undocumented, queer, and disabled artists and freelancers in NYC impacted financially by Covid-19. The fund was co-organized by artists/advocates/organizers/administrators Shawn Escarciga (founder) and Nadia Tykulsker. The fund has given to roughly 1000 people across all five borough of New York City and raised nearly a quarter of a million dollars since March 2020. The fund is now closed.
